Paint 'n' Sip

My Paint ‘n’ Sip sessions offer creative fun while relaxing with friends and family.

These arty parties lift your mood, even if you’re a complete beginner. With an experienced artist and teacher, you will be guided to enjoy the process of creating your own artwork. You will be amazed at what you can achieve.

These sessions are perfect for catching up with your friends, celebrating family occasions, or socialising with colleagues. At the end of your session, you will have a keepsake to treasure.

The Manly West studio accommodates up to 10 people, and the Paint ‘n’ Sip Classes can be tailored to your event to suit any occasion or age group.

No matter the theme, you will be provided with step-by-step instructions for beginners and offer personalised suggestions for more experienced artists.

Succulents

Succulents are very beautiful and aesthetic-looking plants that come in unique shapes, sizes, and colours. My love for these plants really took off when I inherited my late Mother-in-law’s extensive collection (a hobby she had started as a teenager). I have them everywhere, both inside and out in my garden.

A painting of these decorative plants provides you with an opportunity to reconnect with nature.

Matisse-ish

Henry Matisse is one of the world’s most beloved, innovative, and influential artists. Filled with colour, energy, visual joy, and emotion, his work is inspirational. Over six decades, through paintings, drawings, sculptures, and paper cut-outs (collage), Matisse was always seeking new ways of celebrating the seen world and expressing the energy he felt in it.

Because he is one of my favourite artists, I have combined elements of a few of his works to create a Still Life painting, for those who love bright colours.

Balloons

Hot Air Balloons beautiful and fascinating. I love the artistic designs, the majestic way they float freely across the sky, and they can be a metaphor for life.

The patchwork is included because, historically, real patchwork is made by ‘piecing’ together bits of cloth, that were full of memories, to make quilts. In a patchwork pattern, each piece can remind you of a time or place, or person. Patchwork reminds us to remember and honour all the pieces that make up our life’s journey.

Leafy Greens

Nature nurtures. It calms the soul and reminds us of the important things, like being grateful for all the beauty that exists in this world. When you can’t get outside, houseplants are the next best thing. Studies have proven that indoor plants improve concentration and productivity, reduce stress levels and boost your mood!

This gorgeous “Variegated Arrow-Head Vine” is a houseplant that will never die. Instead, it will lift your spirits and bring you happiness. When you combine your favourite types of ‘green’ and add accents of tiny pieces of ‘gold leaf’ you’ll have a glamorous painting that brings the outdoors in!

Drawing

Almost everyone wishes they were better at drawing. If you choose a ‘Sip and Draw’ session, I can make it all about fun or more about mindfulness, depending on the style of event you’re arranging.

One popular choice is my ‘Portrait Painting’ party where we start with a guided DRAWING and then add colour by painting with watercolours. Portraits are pictures of people so participants could bring in an A4 size, black-and-white printout/image of themselves (or a friend, family member, or furbaby) to use as the inspiration or select from the images supplied.

Collage

There are so many kinds of paper in this world and Collage is an art form that celebrates this. I’ll show you how to use lots of pieces of interesting and colourful paper to create a picture. Cutting and assembling shapes is a very relaxing art form that is suitable for all ages and abilities. Collage allows you to plan and think about your image before anything needs to be pasted into position. You’ll be supplied with lots of ideas and examples to help you to create a uniquely different artwork. No Drawing ability is required because you start with the various papers (supplied) and see where the journey takes you. As the organiser, when you choose this option, you can also choose to theme or you may prefer to leave the theme open.

Create with Clay

What better way to relax than to book a ‘play date’ for you and your friends? The tactile experience of playing with clay is quite powerful. I’ll show you some simple techniques so that you can make some very useful objects. The process of handling and manipulating clay is the fun part. Working with clay has a way of completely diverting your attention away from your ‘everyday life’ which in turn gives you a break from your usual thinking.

Comission

A commissioned painting is one where I prepare a new painting based on images and ideas that you send me. The price range depends on the complexity of the design. This allows you to further customise your painting party because the image will be based on a theme and style that you choose.

Price: $70 per person + extra $100 – $200 for artwork preparation.

Art-based parties are good for your mental health! When you are busy trying your best and focusing on each step or process, you tend to forget about everything else. Your event will be remembered forever because Art changes the way we see the world and make us feel happier.

Do not hesitate to contact me to discuss any ideas you have for an ‘Arty’ event.

Larger groups are possible if you can supply a suitable venue. A travel fee may apply, depending on the location.
